Employment generation and livelihood

We believe in local empowerment and thus we ensure that the local tribes and their families are involved with us in our farming and allied activities. The farm labor are from nearby villages thereby adding to the village economy and livelihood of the people nearby.

Anam and Ghanti are an elderly husband wife duo who are stationed at our farm. They take care of our mother cow named Suna (meaning Gold in Odia) and her calf Rupa (Meaning Silver in Odia language). They take care of feeding them, taking them to the grasslands to graze, colleting their cow dung and urine. They also cook food, keep the farm house clean, help in agricultural activities, preparing manure using TCBT (Tara Chand Belji Technique), keeping the farm safe and secure, nurturing the plant nursery with seedlings, upkeep of the farm and many more activities.

Mamata and Sakra mausi belong to the tribal community from Udala in Mayoubhanj district. They visit their village on the festive occasion of Makar Sankranti (the highly celebrated harvest festival in Northern Odisha). Otherwise they are stationed in our farm Plantonet at Kusuna village in Phulpada, Angul district of Odisha. They were the first ladies to come and join us at our farm in our farming initiatives in our early days.

Rashmita is a single mother who also works with us. The power of a woman in agriculture and the dedication can be seen in the force of her work. She never complaints of the workload and takes all responsibilities with a smile. We love to have these people in our team.

Apart from them, we also have Prabhat, Sanjit, Tutu, Geetha, Damru and Sabita who come to work with us on demand basis. Whenever we have a higher workload, we ask them to join us if they are free from their household chores.

As our responsibility, apart from their salary which I am able to carve out from the salary I receive from my day job, we provide free food, accommodation, round the clock running water, uninterrupted renewable electricity (solar), purified drinking water, medical facilities, security in form of solar shock fencing and CCTV surveillance.
